Leadership Cohort

Overview
Funded by Sac Youth Works, twenty selected youth in the City of Sacramento participated in a 6 weeks paid leadership training program where youth groups work collectively to understand their city of Sacramento and utilize their leadership skills to coordinate events and support the community under the guidance of a mentor. 

Program Content

Wellness Check-Ins
During the program, interns met with a program staff member once a week for a wellness check-in. Check-ins were vital in providing a safe space for interns to express themselves and creating an environment with peers for interns to share their experiences with one another.

Community Project
Interns all worked together to coordinate an community project to give back to the community. The interns supported Youth Pop Ups event and then coordinated a Youth Pop Up event, Maskerade Prom Night. Interns planned and coordinated a prom for Class of 2020 & 2021. They worked the event by setting up, supervising, organizing food, and much more. They showed that if they all work collectively together, they can do it.

Reflection Project
Interns created a reflection project showcasing what they had learned in the program or how the program content has helped them grow as an individual.
