Internship Cohort

Overview

Funded by the Sac Youth Works Fall Program, Sac Youth Pop Ups, and CalMHSA, thirty City of Sacramento youth were selected to participate in a paid internship with Hmong Youth and Parents United. Youth are provided mental health check-ins and opportunities to build upon their working experience through the collective planning and coordination of community events and activities.

Program Content

Wellness Check-Ins

Interns were split into three groups by age to receive mental health support and attain general knowledge on mental health to break the stigmas surrounding the sensitive topic.

HYPU Haunted Lane

Interns participated in the preparations and implementation of HYPU’s annual Halloween community event.

Hmong Flash Cards

Five interns focused on the development of Hmong flashcards for students to learn the Hmong alphabet and vocabulary words.
